PHOTO SET
Titanic

The second of White Star's Olympic-class ships, Titanic was the same length as her earlier sister. But because of alterations prompted by experience with Olympic, her gross tonnage was slightly greater, giving her the crown of "largest ship in the world." Among other improvements, the forward half of the A-deck promenade was enclosed, an alteration that easily distinguishes her from her sister. The photo was taken on the afternoon of April 10, 1912, shortly after Titanic left Southampton, England, on her maiden voyage.
